DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Daviess County Coroner will be tasked with determining a cause of death after the body of a 77-year-old man was found in West Boggs Lake.
According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch got a 911 call at 1:15 p.m. Monday that a body was floating in the lake near a private dock on the Upper South Pointe Circle.
Deputies would find the body of Jerry Shadle, who lived on Upper South Pointe Drive, face down in the water near the dock. Investigators believe Shadle had been fishing off an adjoining dock and fell into the lake before being discovered.
Deputies said Shadle had been in the water for an unknown amount of time.
The coroner will be conducting an investigation into the matter. Deputies thanked Indiana Conservation Officers for assistance in the death investigation as well as a number of fire departments and EMS.
