CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: As of 4:40 p.m. ISP Sgt. Matt Ames has confirmed all lanes are now open on I-70.
According to Indiana State Police, emergency crews had closed down the eastbound lanes of I-70 near mile marker 19 in Clay County for a time.
ISP Sgt. Matt Ames confirmed that firefighters from Posey and Jackson townships were on scene battling a semi that had caught fire.
Sgt. Ames reports that the driver of the semi had a mechanical issue with his truck. When the driver pulled over to check on that, he discovered the vehicle was on fire. The driver attempted unsuccessfully to extinguish the flames.
No one was injured during this incident.
