TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — On Sunday, Tamiya O’Quinn’s family and loved ones held a benefit cookout at Baesler’s Market from 11 p.m. – 2 p.m., dedicating all funds to O’Quinn’s funeral.
O’Quinn and Avery Sullivan tragically lost their lives June 7th due to a car accident. At the event, O’Quinn’s family served hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks to raise funds.
O’Quinn’s family says the support from the Terre Haute community has been overwhelming, and they couldn’t be more thankful.
Loved ones, Chris Bedford and Larresha Johnson, says there were people waiting outside at 10:30 and they received over 100 dollars before 11. Johnson also says O’Quinn was even more loved than they knew.
“That Tamiya’s mother has not even known and they have just stopped, they got out of their cars, they prayed with her. They cried with her, and everybody has really sent their condolences. The community for these girls, they have really, they’ve done the most,” said Johnson.
O’Quinn’s family asks for continuous prayers and support for both the families of Tamiya and Avery.
