TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Tuesday, the Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club was out at the Wabashiki Wildlife Area, with the Indiana DNR, to have some good old-fashioned summer fun.
They were able to hike the wooded areas of Wabashiki, learn how to do crafts with the Swope Art Museum and get a chance to catch their first fish.
Program Director Jessica Gray said it’s great being outside and making memories with the kids.
“I think it’s just very heartwarming being able to see how excited they get when they are able to catch their first fish. It’s a memory that I feel like they will remember for a long time. We have kids that came here for the first time and caught their fish here, and they still talk about it. So, I think it’s just awesome to be part of that experience for them,” said Gray.
Gray added that the Boys and Girls Club’s next event this summer is to go to the Marshall Pool this Friday.
