LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Indiana State Police have initiated a death investigation following a trailer fire in Linton early Sunday morning.
According to a news release, authorities responded to a trailer fire just southeast of the railroad tracks near 6th Street in Linton just after 12 a.m. on Sunday morning. A white, male subject was pulled from the residence but was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Linton Police Department contacted Indiana State Police to assistance in a homicide investigation as the victim’s injuries were not fire-related. The individual has not been identified. An autopsy is pending at this time.
Furthermore, Linton authorities acted on initial information and located and apprehended a potential suspect in the incident at a local gas station on Sunday.
Indiana State Police Bloomington District Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are now leading the investigation, with the Linton Police Department assisting.
The Linton Police Department is confident that there is no further threat to the community.
