GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — In Greene County, affordable veterinary care is getting a much-needed boost.
In the same building as the Greene County Humane Society, there will now a “Fix ‘n’ Friends Clinic.”
The clinic will offer spay and neuter surgeries, as well as walk-in vaccines and preventatives.
The Greene County Humane Society is a non-profit that runs solely off of donations and grants, so they are able to keep services at a low cost.
Kegan Inman is the President of the Board of Directors of the Greene County Humane Society.
He said the idea for their own clinic came from the demand of the community.
“We actually partnered with Pets Alive”, Inman said. “About a year ago, they opened up a clinic here in our building in the same space, but they decided they wanted to make their priority in Bloomington, where their main operation is, so they decided to close at the end of March. We just saw the need for the community to have this. As soon as they closed, the amount of calls we were getting and requests for surgeries went through the roof, so we knew we had to do something. That’s where we decided to get our staff together and actually get our own clinic back open.”
The clinic officially opens on June 9th to all residents, not just in Greene County.
The humane society is taking appointments Monday through Thursday, and the walk-in clinic will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays.
