CARLISLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— May is National Community Action Month. This is a time that communities celebrate the power of people by coming together to uplift their neighborhoods.
This year, Pace Community Action Agency is celebrating 60 years of empowering families across southwestern Indiana. Pace is part of a nationwide network of agencies committed to creating economic opportunity and helping families achieve lasting self-sufficiency.
“We are able to pivot, we’re able to change, we are able to try things in the community and we have done that for the past 60 years,” said Tai Blythe, CEO of Pace Community Action Agency. “We don’t want to duplicate services, but we are able to try new things and really see what does our community need to be successful.”
Last year, the organization helped more than 6,400 individuals with vital services ranging from early childhood education to healthcare and energy assistance.
