TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Rotary Club of Terre Haute gave out the prestigious “Five Avenues of Service” Award Tuesday to Richard Watson.
Watson has been a member of the Rotary Club of Terre Haute for decades, including serving as president.
To receive the award, one must show committed service in the categories of club, vocational, community, youth, and international.
Watson used his personal dentistry to help children in need and has traveled all over the world for the rotary club.
He said he appreciates everything the organization has done for him.
“I’ve been to rotary meetings north of the Artic Circle and south of the equator, as well as Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, and North America”, Watson said. “It has been a pleasure. I always put service above self.”
Watson said he had no idea he was going to get the award today but was very humbled to be honored in front of the entire club.
