WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Monday evening, the Vigo County School Board hosted a public forum to discuss a facility study.
Superintendent Chris Himsel said there are several school buildings that need improvements. In Monday night’s meeting, they discussed three ways to update and maintain the schools. One would be to replace the schools which will cost around $1.5 billion. Second, would be to renovate and modernize the schools, which would cost around $850 million. And third, the possible consolidation of schools. Himsel said they will continue to work with Gibraltar to come up with a plan.
“They’ll synthesize and basically come up with what they can support and what they can’t support,” said Himsel. “So, we can try to put together a plan.”
The next public forums will be held on March 25th at North High School at 5:30 p.m., and South High School at 7:30 p.m.
