TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Americans from all around the county traveled to Washington, D.C. for the inauguration of Donald Trump. That includes the Roshel Family from Terre Haute.
The family said they originally had tickets to watch the inaugural events from the standing area of the U.S. Capitol building lawn, but due to inclement weather the inauguration will take place in the Capitol Rotunda, leading to many individuals missing out on seeing Donald Trump take the oath of office in person.
“I disagree (on the inauguration being moved inside), I think they should have had it outside and let whoever wanted to come and watch and rave the cold be there. I was disappointed, ” said John Roshel, father of the Roshel family.
Even though their election day plans were changed, the Roshel family says they have still enjoyed their time in Washington. The family said they were able to take in the atmosphere of D.C, see some monuments and were even able to see a Trump rally over the weekend.
Jamie Roshel said, being in Washington during the inauguration festivities is one of the top five experiences of her life.
“I think no matter what your political affiliation is, we’re all Americans, it’s a beautiful process… If you ever get the opportunity to come and witness something like this, I encourage anybody to. It’s definitely going to be a top-five event of my life so far,” said Jamie Roshel.
One of the main topics the Roshel Family is interested in seeing a second Trump administration accomplish is securing the United States Souther boarder.
“My big issue when Trump came down the escalator the first time and said he was going to stop immigration, I knew right then he was my guy, and that is still my biggest issue probably today,” said Arlena Roshel.
