TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — As President Biden left office Monday, Terre Haute’s Mayor, Brandan Sakbun, praised the former president in a national publication.
In a Wall Street Journal article, Sakbun attributed growth in the region to federal funding from Biden-backed legislation.
In the article, Sakbun highlighted the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act, which gave the Terre Haute community $34 million for city improvements.
Some city improvements this money has gone to are several housing projects, creating a sky bridge to connect hotels and the Terre Haute Convention Center and funding for local colleges.
Sakbun also spoke about the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act that helped the city bring in two factories to the area, which will help create more than 800 jobs.
