TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Thursday afternoon, Indiana State University celebrated Founders Day.
Executive Director of the Alumni Association Dr. P.J. Thompson said that it is good for students to fully understand the university that they are a part of.
“I think it is even more important for our students to see the legacy of the institution that they have made a decision to make a part of their life and, again, to see that for over 160 years, this institution has created opportunities for excellence,” said Thompson.
Another big part of Founders Day is highlighting what the future holds for the university. ISU President Mike Godard explains the vision of the university going forward.
“Looking at providing more access and opportunity for students to come through the doors of Indiana State and earn a degree,” said Godard. “For us to expand on our community partnerships that we have and be very strategic with partnerships, businesses, and industry not only across all of west-central Indiana, but the entire state.”
Godard said the community around this university is going to make achieving these goals a lot easier.
“The passion that people have for Indiana State University, Terre Haute, and our region along with the willingness to want to be helpful,” said Godard. “We want to do everything that we can to partner together to ensure each and every student has that pathway to be successful in life and work.”
