TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Local residents said Friday was the perfect snow day to go sledding down the Deming Park hill in Terre Haute.
The Utterback family said it’s a tradition for them to go sledding whenever there’s a good snow and added it’s a fun time for the whole family to come together and create memories.
“Every Hautian knows the Deming Park hill is the perfect sledding spot. We’ve been sledding since I was little in the 1960s, and then our children and now our grandbabies are sledding here at Deming Park,” said Jeanine Utterback.
The family brought their toboggan that’s been in their family for generations.
“It was my grandpa’s sled, so now his great grandchildren get to ride it today on the hill,” said Lucy Utterback.
The family said anyone planning to go sledding should dress in layers, wear gloves, a hat and snow boots. They also said be prepared for some exercise pulling the sled up to the top of the hill.
