FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— North Central’s School Therapy Dog, Beatrix has been a helping hand for students all school year.
Owner and visual arts teacher Erin Schultz further explained Beatrix’s role at the school.
“She goes to classrooms and visits kids and does work with the counselor,” said Schultz. “On occasion she will go to the counselor and have discussions with students who are maybe having a rough day because it is nice to be able to pet a puppy while you are talking out your problems.”
Schultz said that Beatrix has started becoming more and more popular as finals are approaching and the general stress levels for students continue to rise. She said that Beatrix has done nothing but brighten the mood of all of those she interacts with.
“She just really raises those spirits,” said Schultz. “She will walk down the hallways and everyone just smiles. Greets her, give her some pets, and then just go about their business. She really does just make everyone a little happier around here.”
