JASONVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Jasonville water customers are under a boil water advisory as a temporary water system has been put in place.
The temporary water system has restored water to customers following a days-long outage that was caused by a fire at the Jasonville Water Plant earlier in the week.
As water was restored to customers Friday, the Greene County Health Department released a public service announcement regarding the boil water advisory.

Public Service AnnouncementAttention Jasonville Residents:
Jasonville Water Plant is currently undergoing repairs, and a temporary system has been put in place to restore water flow under a Boil Water Advisory. Jasonville Utilities, in consultation with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), has issued this advisory. As a precautionary measure, please boil your drinking water until you are notified that it is no longer necessary.
Important Information
· Health and Safety: It is recommended that all cooking and drinking water be brought to a complete boil for three (3) to five (5) minutes before use. You can wash your hands as usual for 20 seconds with soap and water. You call also wash clothes as usual. Here are some DOs and DON’Ts when under a boil water advisory:
· Do use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking and preparing food.
· Do wash all fruits and vegetables with bottled or boiled water.
· Do use bottled or boiled water when mixing baby formula.
· Do use bottled or boiled water for brushing teeth.· Don’t use ice from ice trays, ice dispensers or ice makers.
· Don’t brush your teeth with tap water.
· Don’t swallow any water when bathing or showering.
· Don’t give your pets tap water
· Don’t trust your filter. Most water filters typically do not remove bacteria.· Food Establishments: All local restaurants and food establishments may resume operations by following the Boil Water Guidance issued by the Greene County Health Department to ensure safety.
· Updates: Regular updates on the status of the water issue will be provided through local news outlets, social media, and community bulletin boards. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and follow any additional guidance from local authorities.
