TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A 46-year-old Terre Haute man was arrested Monday after he allegedly assaulted two people on November 26.
According to a news release from Terre Haute Police Department, on November 26 officers responded to the 3300 block of South U.S. 41 for a reported battery. When officers arrived on the scene they found two severely injured victims. During the investigation, the man taken into custody named Marc A. Yates. was allegedly stalking and threatening his ex-girlfriend. Yates had a protective order recently issued against him from one of the victims.
In an attempt to avoid Yates the female victim had parked her vehicle in a nearby lot, away from her job, and had a friend escort her to her vehicle. Despite this, Yates allegedly attacked both individuals with a club-like weapon as they neared their cars. The male victim sustained life-threatening injuries including a fractured skull. The female victim suffered extensive injuries including a fractured ankle.
Terre Haute Police Department handed the case to their Violent Crimes Detectives, who with the assistance of the THPD U.S. Marshal Task Force Officer, located Yates at a home on 4th Avenue Monday. The THPD, K9 team, and U.S. Marshals entered the home after Yates refused to exit. Yates was eventually taken into custody after being found and surrendering. Yates is being charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
