TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It’s the biggest shopping day of the year and despite the cold Friday morning, shoppers were lined up across the Wabash Valley in hopes of scoring some great deals.
Shoppers, like Betty Steadman, were in front of the South Side Menards in Terre Haute hours before the doors opened.
“We got here at 4:15. Usually, we get to the other one about 3 o’clock. The people behind us, champs, they said they got here about 2 o’clock this morning.”
Inside the store, employees of Menards have been preparing for the holiday for weeks.
The general manager of the store, Brian Christenson, says he enjoys the spike in customers.
“I’m just really excited about the busyness, seeing everybody come in the store. Really excited about all the great deals that we have. Like I said, we have everything for pretty much everybody in the family.”
Having something for everybody in the family is exactly why Betty Steadman’s family has spent the holiday at Menards for seven years straight.
“They always have good deals. Deals that none of the other stores can compare, a lot for the kids. I know when you come to Menards, you’re thinking you’re buying building materials, but a lot of it is for the kiddos.”
The Black Friday deals will continue at Menards in Terre Haute through the weekend, ending on Sunday.
The Christmas and Home Gift Sale will go on until December 8th.
