VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Residents who need energy assistance during the winter months are encouraged to apply now.
The Western Indiana Community Action Agency offers assistance for low-income families in Vigo, Clay and Putnam Counties.
Energy Assistance Director Stacey Fitz explained the assistance program provides a one-time payment and also puts clients into a moratorium from December 1 through March 15, so their utilities cannot be disconnected during that time.
Applications are being accepted now.
“If you’re in need of assistance helping with your bills throughout the winter, please do not wait to apply. Apply as soon as you can,” said Fitz.
People can apply online, by filling out a paper application or by calling 211.
