VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Vigo County Election Board certified the results of the November election on Friday, November 15.
Vigo County Clerk Brad Newman said staff and poll workers did a phenomenal job during the election.
He added the county had nearly a 60% voter turnout, which he said is incredible.
Newman, who has reached his term limit, also had this to say to the community as he prepares to finish serving in this role.
“Being the clerk in Vigo County the last eight years has been an incredible learning experience. A lot of trust has been bestowed upon me by the community and it has been an honor of a lifetime. I thank every one of you for everything you’ve done for me and my family, and this community. It’s not just about me. It’s about everyone here and I look forward to seeing you guys soon,” said Newman.
Newly elected officials will take office on the first of the year. Newman explained that in December, they’ll attend a conference for newly-elected officials.
He added they may also choose to meet with outgoing officials to help the transition.
