TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Terre Haute Women’s Club was happy to receive a donation from two Student Council leaders from Woodrow Wilson Middle School.
The Terre Haute Women’s Club received a $300 donation along with 200 pairs of socks to be distributed to the children of Vigo County Schools. Woodrow Wilson is known to have donated socks in previous years but this year they upped the ante by adding in a $300 donation.
The Terre Haute Women’s Club provides new athletic shoes and socks to kids in the Vigo County school system in need each year. The new shoes are purchased through funds received by fundraising efforts throughout the year along with donations from the community. Each year the club supplies hundreds of pairs of these shoes, and in the past as many as 1,200.
“Our membership is so grateful and impressed by the generosity and leadership these students have shown through their own initiative,” stated the club in a news release. “We encourage these students to keep striving to become future leaders in our hometown!”
