BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Wednesday afternoon Thrive West Central hosted a public meeting trying to gather public opinions on the potential bus service route in the city of Brazil.
The goal was to discuss with community members a route that would best fit the needs of the area. Thrive’s director of transportation Matthew Tribble said that Brazil has never had public transportation, and it is becoming more of a need every day.
“We currently don’t offer services here, but we get calls all the time from folks in Clay County wanting for us to come over and facilitate transportation for them,” said Tribble. “It was obvious to us just based on all of the calls that we get that there is a need here for us to be able to fulfill.”
Tribble said this feedback will give them a much better understanding of the key areas and neighborhoods to create stops. He said they want to fulfill as many needs as possible with this route.
“We need to make sure that we have that feedback so that we can craft this service in a way that is most beneficial to everyone, and this helps us be able to get those touch points,” said Tribble. “What we think is needed and what is the best may not be what the citizens of the community really want.”
Once a route is decided, Tribble said they plan to test it in a pilot program by the beginning of 2025.
