TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Thursday afternoon the City of Terre Haute and the United Way of the Wabash Valley awarded 20 local nonprofits a combined $750,000.
This was made possible due to United Ways’ Nonprofit Grant Program that was funded by the American Rescue Plan Act as approved by the City Council. These grant amounts ranged from 10 to 50 thousand dollars and were used to support initiatives, infrastructure improvements, staff development, and capital expenditures.
United Way of the Wabash Valley’s executive director Abby Desboro said this community revolves around nonprofits like these.
“I know that the need is great in the community, and I know that our nonprofits work hard day in and day out to provide for that need and provide for the citizens of our community,” said Desboro. “To be able to award them funding that will help them invest in themselves and to do their jobs more effectively, efficiently, and provide more services moving forward is a really heartwarming opportunity.”
Desboro added that she can’t wait to see these project come to life and strengthen our nonprofit sector.
