MEROM, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Now that Merom Camp and Retreat Center is no longer run by a church organization, they want to take full advantage of partnering with other businesses and organizations in Sullivan County.
“We are now free as an independent 501c3 to reach out beyond just servicing our church customers and to engage more fully and authentically with our community,” said Merom Camp and Retreat Center’s executive director David Grim.
Merom Camp and Retreat Center have been serving Sullivan County in multiple ways for decades, but now they are looking to take a new approach to growing the community. Grim said that they have big hopes for their upcoming Holiday Market Craft Fair and Breakfast with Santa.
“It is really important for us here at Merom Camp and Retreat Center to broaden our community engagement,” said Grim. “One of the themes that we have been working on is overcoming isolation and drawing people together in those heartfelt ways.”
Grim said that these partnerships allow everybody to connect with each other and that is the ultimate goal for the success of the center and the community around it.
“We knew that we could all win together in Sullivan County by partnering in these ways and bodes very well for the future,” said Grim. “Any time that our community can come together and gather in these ways, we are building our families, we are building our communities, and we are doing it together.”
The Holiday Market Craft Fair will be on November 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be handicap accessible.
