TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – An Indianapolis man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on I-70.
According to the Terre Haute Police Department, Colton Norton, 31, of Indianapolis, was arrested with the cooperation of Indiana State Police and the Terre Haute Police Department’s K9 Unit, Norton was stopped on Interstate 70 in Terre Haute.
Police noted that during the stop, THPD K9 Rocky alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics in Norton’s vehicle. Following the alert, Norton attempted to flee the scene by jumping over a concrete barrier along the interstate. K9 Rocky was quickly deployed and successfully apprehended Norton near the interstate shoulder.
THPD noted that a subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of over four pounds of methamphetamine and a handgun readily accessible to Norton. Norton was charged with Dealing Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine.
A jury trial has been scheduled for January 27, 2025.
