GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Greene County Health Department said that the time is now for residents to get tested for lead.
With this week being National Lead Poison Prevention Week, the department wants to remind residents that they provide free lead testing to all children ages six and under. Officials said that during this year’s health fair 14 out of 38 children tested positive for lead at 3.5 or higher.
Its Health Administrator Shari Lewis said that she is thankful that they are able to provide this resource to the community.
“The Greene County Health Department is able to provide these services to our residents and it is so timely with this up tick that we have found in our community back to school health fair with individuals and children testing positive,” said Lewis.
Lewis added that there is no appointment needed for these tests.
