TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— New Monday night, the Vigo County School Board has passed the 2025 proposed budget for Vigo County Schools.
The board made this decision final at Monday night’s school board meeting. This years budget is a 4% increase to last years $165 million budget. This puts the 2025 school years budget at $171 million dollars.
VCSC Superintendent Chris Himsel said there is one major change from this years budget to previous ones.
“An additional tax from the inland casino that we not had in the past, so therefore we had to go through and work with the DLGF and state board of accounts to create the necessary appropriations for that. And that has been a new learning experience because we’re actually the only school in the state has that budget line.”
The budget now is in the hands of the Department of Local Government Finance as they will make the final decision on how much funding VCSC will receive next school year. You can find all of the documents for the budget on VCSC’s website.
