ROSEDALE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local American Legion Post is stepping up to help people impacted by the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
American Legion Post #290 in Rosedale is holding an effort called Operation Overcoat.
They’re collecting gently used winter coats of all sizes. The coats will be taken to North Carolina and Tennessee, to help people who lost everything stay warm during the colder months.
Chaplain William Felker explained why they wanted to help as the seasons change.
“The Legion’s a family. That’s the way we look at it and we try to take care of each other like family. I know that if my family was hurting, I’d want somebody to come and help them, so we’re just going to try and go down, and do whatever we can to help them,” said Felker.
He said they’ll be collecting coats through Friday.
American Legion Post #290 is located at 10522 S Coxville Road in Rosedale.
