SHOALS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Shoals Public Library is in danger of missing out on much needed renovations and expansion at the end of this month.
Last year, the library was awarded an OCRA grant that got them to their goal. Unfortunately, since the cost of construction has increased nearly 23 percent since receiving this grant, they are now financially short $200,000.
This money was going to allow them to install an elevator, add handicap accessible restrooms, update its heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing units, and add an enclosed space for children.
Its director Sylvia Albaugh said the last thing they want is to lose this building.
“If we can’t find a way to do that, I don’t know how much longer this building can remain our library and what will become of this wonderful old building if it’s not the Shoals Public Library,” said Albaugh.
For those interested, you can send a check to Shoals Public Library PO Box 909 Shoals, IN 47581. You can also send them a donation through PayPal which can be found on their Facebook page that can be found here.
