TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Local high school students got to get out and enjoy the nice weather on Friday while celebrating Homecoming. This is thanks to a partnership between the Terre Haute North High School Bring Change 2 Mind club and the school’s student council.
Friday’s event happened during an extended lunch period and featured a variety of activities and vendors. A few animals even came by to visit the students including a therapy dog, a llama, and some cattle. The Bring Change 2 Mind co-adviser Valeri Kershaw, said she hopes this event will give students a much-needed mental health break.
“Our focus with Bring Change 2 Mind is breaking the stigma of mental health. And so, events like this allow us a chance to talk about that, focus again on mental health, but again, just bring joy. Kids need that burst of joy throughout the day and that’s hard to get when you’re inside a building all the time,” Kershaw said.
She added this is the third event like this and it continues to get bigger and better every year.
