TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute City Council held their monthly meeting Thursday and unanimously approved to rezone multiple properties.
Two of these are in district 1.
One of those two is set to be an apartment complex, able to house up to 120 multi-family units.
The other has the potential to be a hotel, hoping to address a shortage of hotel space in the city.
Councilwoman Hinton says these moves are one of the reasons she wanted to be on the city council.
I ran on improved housing and developing the commercial and the retail and providing jobs and infrastructure in my district. Both of these projects will serve two things. We’ll have improved housing for, I believe its 120 multi-family residential units and then the potential hotel and retail space will hopefully bring jobs and provide some good revenue for the area.

Officials say more specific plans still need to be passed.
We will update you when construction begins.
