VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Wednesday night, Vigo County’s favorite singer returned home from Hollywood, and he was welcomed back by the students and staff who have been with him every step of the way.
On the road to winning season 19 of the show, Richard Goodall captured the hearts of many around the country, but he says the support from Vigo County was immeasureable.
Each and every round when they said my name, I just dropped my head. I can’t believe you guys put me through to the next round. I left it all out on the stage. I did everything I could, every single time. Not only did I try to pull through for you guys, you guys pulled through for me.

Friday, Richard returned to work as if it was just another day, radio on his hip.
However, West Vigo emptied the classrooms and filled the gymnasium to welcome the “singing janitor” back home.
From the hope he has given to the city of Terre Haute, Richard was presented with a special key to add to his collection.
I am honored and privileged to present to you, Richard Goodall, this key to the city of Terre Haute.

After winning the show, Richard says big opportunities have begun to come his way, but no decisions will be made right now.
As far as I go and Ang go, this is the first time our life has been unscripted. AGT has not only changed our life, but money aside, the opportunities are kind of endless right now.

Richard and his wife Angie say that discussions about a manager and future gigs will be talked about in the near future. As well as a special appearance on America’s Got Talent next season.
