VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)—New details pertaining to the story we covered on September 17 of one man who was killed in a shooting on September 16.
According to a news release from Indiana State Police (ISP), ISP Troopers showed up at a local business located at State Road 163 and State Road 63 at 8:45 p.m. to reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, Gavin I. Bodkins, 19, of Clinton, Indiana stated he was the one who had fired the shots and called 911. Officers then spotted Devin S. Shelby, 41, of Robinson, Illinois had received gunshot wounds and first aid was administered. Due to the severity of the wounds Shelby was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Vermillion County Sheriff Mike Holtcamp has requested ISP Putnamville Post to conduct the investigation. They have completed the full investigation and given their findings to the Vermillion County Prosecutor and are awaiting news to see if charges will be filed or declined.
