BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — This weekend in Casey, Illinois was the 36th annual Popcorn Festival.
Every year from Friday to Labor Day you can find attractions, food, and live entertainment in Farview Park.
Recently, the festival has come under new management. This group of board members are trying to bring back tradition.
With this being the 36th annual, we want to bring that tradition back from when we were youth. When I was young, we remember coming down here every Labor Day weekend and spending time with your friends, family, and just seeing people and just talking to people and getting that small town atmosphere here.
Shane Todd – Board Member
Each day at the festival has a different sponsor and brings its own excitement.
Friday the food vendors and carnival opens, followed by a parade on Saturday morning. Later in the night, live music takes center stage. Sunday brings the 30th annual car show. Yet, Todd says the main attraction might just be the food.
If you can’t find something to eat here, you are doing something wrong. You can’t go wrong with a free bag of popcorn either.

Still, if none of that sounds intriguing, you can enjoy the weather walking around the festival’s Butterfield Market. A section home to over 40 vendors with things such as clothes and jewelry and you may just get cooled off with some bubbles by a 12-foot-tall woman.
I’m here to entertain people, but I’m not stuck on a stage. I get to walk around and harass people, juggle for them.
Carrie McQueen – Festival Entertainment
The festival will finish up on Labor Day with a vehicle raffle drawing, a magic show, and a kids tractor pull. The market and food stands will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
