LOOGOOTEE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) announced this year’s Pride Fest in Loogootee will go on.
The ACLU says the Loogootee City Council approved a permit for the festival earlier this week. The Pride Fest will take place at the Public Square in downtown Loogootee on September 7.
The ACLU filed a lawsuit against the city back in June. It claimed the city council changed the application process for using city property, rescinded prior approval for the festival, and failed to vote on approving the festival’s new application.
The ACLU said it is pleased that the city council has allowed the Loogootee Pride Fest to move forward.
“PrideFest is about equality and acceptance, and we are thrilled that we will once again be able to host this important celebration of diversity and inclusion in the heart of our community – just as we successfully did in 2023,” said event organizers Timothy and Tracy Brown Salsman. “We welcome everyone to come and celebrate Pride with us.”
