PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The State Park Index ranks three Indiana parks as the ‘best state parks to visit this summer and fall,’ including Parke County‘s Turkey Run State Park.
The 2024 HomeToGo State Park Index is assembled by vacation and rental company HomeToGo. According to their website, the list uses extensive search and demand data and information about trails, wildlife, photo-friendliness, and park size to rank the 50 most popular, picturesque, and well-appointed state parks across the country.

The list features 50 parks in 19 states from a variety of landscapes. Three of those parks are right here in the Hoosier state, including, Indiana Dunes State Park ranked 6, Turkey Run State Park at number 18, and Potato Creek State Park in the number 34 spot.
Located in Marshall, Indiana, Turkey Run is Indiana’s second state park. According to the Indiana DNR’s website, the park offers the chance to explore deep, sandstone ravines, walk along stands of aged forests, and enjoy the scenic views along Sugar Creek.
