PALESTINE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— This weekend, an event in Crawford County Illinois is highlighting the historic value of the area.
The ‘History Hop’ will take place in Palestine, Illinois, one of the oldest towns in the state.
During this event all of the historic attractions are open at the same time, giving people the opportunity to visit all of them at once. As a bonus, anyone who visits at least six of the attractions will be entered into a drawing to win either a 100-dollar prize or a gift basket. Organizers of the event say its important to take time to experience the history of these places and you might be surprised by what you find.
“We just hope the people will come out and see these places and benefit from an afternoon or late morning just enjoying the countryside and the events that we have,” said Dennis Steckley who works with Fife Opera House and is part coordinator of the event.
The event takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
