TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– A man taken into custody yesterday after a multiple hour standoff with police now has been charged.
Ryan M. Pfister, 41, of Terre Haute has been charged today after being taken into custody after Tuesday’s standoff according to a press release from Terre Haute Police Department. After a thorough investigation that included the recovery of multiple firearms Pfister has been preliminarily charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and residential entry.
Police said that their investigation determined the incident started after an individual showed up to the 400 block of North 42nd Street to obtain their vehicle and had permission from the owner to do so. Officers noted that the individual after arriving was confronted by Pfister who was inside the property illegally after the owner had been gone for several days. Police state that during the altercation Pfister fired a weapon that caused the man to flee and started the arrival of police presence. The THPD and Special Response Team arrived and later located Pfister as he attempted an escape from the units forming a perimeter around the home.
