CLAY CITY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Monday night a Clay County Deputy was surprised at a routine traffic stop.
According to a press release from the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, on August 5 at around 8 p.m. a Clay County Deputy was patrolling Clay City when he noticed a white pickup truck near 9th Street and Nye Street. The deputy then noticed the man, 46-year-old David W. Liston, commit a traffic infraction. The deputy then pulled over Liston to perform a traffic stop.
During the Traffic stop the deputy said he observed multiple criminal and suspicious behaviors from Liston. During the stop a search was conducted and a meth lab was discovered, along with 20.7 grams of meth, and 27.5 grams of what is suspected to be K-2 or spice.
Liston was arrested for dealing in methamphetamine of at least 10 grams and manufacturing methamphetamine of at least 10 grams, both of which are level 2 felonies and with maintaining a common nuisance, a level 6 felony. The ISP was contacted and disposed of the lab and its contents.
