OAKLAND, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Oakland is celebrating 60 years of swimming on August 4.
The East Oakland Township Park District is hosting an event. This year will mark the 60th anniversary of their public swimming pool. On the day, a free swim will take place, sponsored by First Farmers Bank and Trust for anyone wanting to bring the family. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. there will be a reception held with a program starting at 3 p.m. This will be done to honor Max Miller and Anna Freeman, the only two living donors who made the original contribution to open in 1964. According to the news release they look forward to seeing several family members and friends in attendance to celebrate this important asset to the community.
