CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Clay County man was killed in a grain bin accident Monday night.
The Cory Volunteer Fire Department received the call around 8 p.m. Monday night of a possible grain bin entrapment.
According to Cory Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Glen Neiswinger, firefighters arrived at the farm located in Cory, Indiana around in the area of 6600 West County Road 350 South.
“When we got there we did not know where he was,” Neiswinger said. “The tractor and auger were still running. We knew he had to be in the bin.”
Firefighters cut holes in the walls of the grain bin to let the grain out. They located the victim and determined that he was deceased.
The Clay County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Gerald Reagin, 79 of Cory, Indiana.
The cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy that is scheduled for July 31 at Lawson-Miller Chapel.
Assisting at the Cory department at the scene were the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, The Clay County Coroner, STAR Ambulance and the following fire departments from Clay City, CenterPoint, Posey Township, Lewis Township, Riley and Pierson Township.
