VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— An 18-year-old who already faces a murder charge has now been charged with five counts of attempted murder for a different incident.
The two shooting incidents happened the week of July 22. Calvin Wittmer was charged with killing a man on North Fourteenth Street in Vincennes this past Wednesday. According to court documents a witness told police Wittmer and the victim had been arguing before the shooting. The murder followed another shooting the prior Monday. According to the Vincennes Police Department, officers responded to shots being fired and that someone with a gunshot wound was at Good Samaritan Hospital.
The press release states that July 22 at around 5:30 p.m. the Vincennes Police Department responded to a call at Autumn Ridge in reference to a shooting. Whilst on the way the officers received further information that someone had shown up at Good Samaritan Hospital with a gunshot wound. During investigation it was found that two male suspects exited a vehicle driven by a female and fired multiple rounds into the blue Mazda that was occupied by 3 adults, 1 juvenile, and one infant. One of the adult male passengers was hit in the head by the bullet that required surgery later performed in Evansville.
On July 23, the female driver, Madalyn Dennis (23), was located and arrested in Lawrence County, Illinois. The next day Calvin Wittmer (18) was identified as one of the male shooters and was already in custody for the shooting of a person unrelated to the incident on 14 Street in Vincennes. Kyvon Ahmed (19) was identified as the second shooter and was also arrested after being located in Vincennes as well. Both Ahmed and Dennis have been arrested on five counts of attempted murder. Calvin Wittmer was also arrested and charged with five counts of attempted murder and one count of murder.
