TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– An Indiana State University basketball player Bobby Cannon was arrested for domestic battery.
According to court records, on July 28, I.S.U. Police responded to a possible domestic battery situation at Riverfront Lofts. Cannon is a freshman from North Carolina.
Indiana State University Athletics provided the following statement;
“We have been informed of the situation involving Indiana State student athlete Bobby Cannon. We are in contact with the Indiana State University Police Department regarding the matter. Indiana State Athletics will continue to monitor the situation as additional details are released and take action as necessary. We have no further comment at this time.”
Court records show that Cannon faces a class A misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
During an initial hearing in Vigo County Superior Court 4 on Tuesday, Judge Christopher Newton accepted Cannon’s preliminary plea of not guilty. Cannon was released on his own recognizance and must report to court for another hearing on August 1.
Judge Newton also vacated the no contact order originally issued in the case after hearing sworn testimony from a “Complaining Witness”. Prosecutor’s did not object to the no contact order being removed.
Cannon must avoid possessing firearms, deadly weapons or any ammunition while the case moves forward.
