TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Procession plans have been released as the community joins together to honor the life of Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse.
Plasse died on Wednesday, July 24 following a lengthy battle against cancer. Monday, there will be a public visitation at Hulman Center starting at noon with the funeral to follow.
The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office has announced the planned procession route and is encouraging the public to line the route to pay their respects. The graveside services are closed and the family has asked for the public to respect their privacy during that time.

Procession Route
The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office Chief of Operations Derek Fell has released the following procession route;
• The Procession will start at the south entrance of the Hulman Center on Cherry St. in between 8th & 9th Streets facing west.
• The procession will proceed west from that point and take the following route:
• West on Cherry St. from 8th St.
• South on 1st St. from Cherry St.
• East on Honey Creek Drive
• South into the Sheriff’s Department Drive past Sheriff John Plasse’s vehicle where last call will be performed.
• Exit the Sheriff’s Department Drive and continue East on Honey Creek Dr. around to the front of the Mall
• East on Davis Ave. from 3rd St. / US Hwy 41
• North on 7th St. through Poplar St. and pass in front of the Terre Haute Police Department
• East on Wabash Ave. from 7th St.
• East on Wabash Ave. to the Entrance of Highland Lawn Cemetery
• *Note: If you are in procession and are not attending cemetery services (Private for Law enforcement, military, family and close friends), please exit the procession heading southbound (turn right) on Fruitridge Ave.
