CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Martinsville man will spend time behind bars after being sentenced for the murder of Louis Riggs.
Donmick Zedell appeared in Clark County Court for a sentencing hearing on Wednesday. The hearing follows Zedell being found guilty by a jury of 2nd degree murder in may of this year in relation to the stabbing death of Riggs in 2023.
Police said the incident occurred on July 29, 2023 when officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of S. 4th Street in Marshall for a reported fight in progress. They reportedly found an unconscious Riggs at that location and he would die awaiting transportation to a medical facility.
Wednesday, a judge handed down a 4 year prison sentence with credit for 354 days time-served. Once released Zedell must submit to two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
