VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Indiana Department of Transportation discussed plans Tuesday for more electric vehicle charging stations around the state.
A public meeting was held in Knox County about the Charging the Crossroads campaign. That’s INDOT’s plan to invest nearly $100,000,000 in electric vehicle charging stations.
These will be built at strategic locations along interstates and highways. In March, they announced the first 39 sites to receive these fast-charging stations.
INDOT Southwest’s Public Relations Director Gary Brian said they want to ensure Indiana is not an electric vehicle charging station desert.
“Making sure that there are enough throughout the state so when people come to the Hoosier state, they know that they have a place along the roadway to charge their vehicle,” he said.
INDOT anticipates the installation of these initial charging stations at these sites to begin in 2025.
