Several people in Terre Haute will now have a full Easter Dinner following a distribution day held Wednesday at the Salvation Army.
WTWO paired with Midas, Baesler’s Market and the Salvation Army for this event.
Eighty bags of food were prepared for distribution, and people lined up as early as 8:30 a.m. to receive their portion.
The bags consisted of a ham, corn, yams, mashed potatoes, fruit and an Easter dessert.
This is the first year for the food distribution and organizers said they hope it continues for years to come.
“I don’t think Easter is something that people really touch on,” said Sue Linden of the Salvation Army. “And everybody gives during the holiday season for Christmas and Thanksgiving, and I think it’s just as important to give not only throughout the year but for the Easter season.”
People who received Easter meals pre-qualified the same way they would for the Toys for Tots or other Salvation Army programs.
