TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– The Crossroads of America Council is having its 34 annual “Outing for Scouting” July 11.
This golf fundraiser has raised over a quarter-million dollars for the scouts. After several challenging years scouting is successfully gaining momentum and is witnessing a drastic increase in membership across the nation. Due to this, funds are needed now more than ever to maintain and hopefully expand programs and services for the rising number of new members.
Funds from the outing will directly go into supporting this years programs for boys and girls age 7 to 20 from six different groups including the Cub Scouts and Sea Scouts. In the greater Wabash Valley over 2,000 youth members participate in one or more of these groups.
Doug Band, Western Territory Director for the Crossroads of America Council states, “without your support we would not be able to support as many low-income families in the Wabash Valley, to provide the Scouting program to over 120 local youth and families.”
The “Outing for Scouting” will take place July 11 at the Country Club of Terre Haute. The event will feature two groups of golfers, one starting at 8 a.m. and the other at 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be served between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The event will be giving out prizes for the lower scoring groups and other accolades including a chance at $10,000 at one of the par three holes for a hole-in-one. Those interested can either enter solo or in groups of four and can register here.
