TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The 4th of July is projected to be one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
The Indiana Department of Transportation said because of this, they will have no workers on the roadways on the holiday. Officials said that work will continue until July 3.
Public Relations Director for INDOT West Central Blake Dollier said they don’t want to endanger anyone, during the holiday’s heavy traffic flow.
“We do not want to prevent any kid of traffic hazards or backups,” he said. “We want to keep our crews safe and if there is increased traffic, a good way to do so is just keep them off the road.”
He also wants to remind everyone to plan ahead if you think you will need a sober driver during the holiday celebrations.
