TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Drivers who take I-70 overnight should be aware of some upcoming lane restrictions in Terre Haute.
Starting Friday night, the Indiana Department of Transportation will have lane restrictions at several bridges.
Blake Dollier, Public Relations Director for the West Central District, said crews will be working on the I-70 bridges over 7th Street, CSX crossings and 25th Street.
He explains crews will start in the westbound lanes and eventually move to the eastbound lanes, and they’ll be working from around 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Dollier said that way there will be a lower traffic volume while crews are working.
“The interstate congestion policy calls for us to do that. It allows crews to be safer. In hot weather like this, it’s also an added bonus for those guys to be able to be out of the hot, beating down sun as well, so it’s really a safer, more comfortale situation for everybody,” said Dollier.
He says the hope is to have this work done by July 4. Even though there are lower traffic volumes at night, Dollier urges drivers to always be extra careful in construction zones.
