WASHINGTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Daviess County YMCA has become the latest recipient of the Fast Grant Program from Our Community Foundation.
“During 2023, 925 people of ages ranging from 13 to those in their 90’s participated in our group exercise classes” Jessika Henning, the Y’s Aquatics Director and Group Exercise Coordinator, stated. “Our classes have experienced growth in the last 2 years, especially at the start of 2024, which made us realize the need to update and expand our equipment in the group exercise room.”
The YMCA will be putting the funds to good use to improve the current equipment to expand for the rising amount of individuals signing up for classes. This money will allow them to purchase and replace cycling mats, as well as more hand weights for their Silver Sneakers and Tone Express classes. These funds will also allow them to purchase an additional rack for hand weights, more storage equipment, and the ability to replace their non-functioning sound system.
“The YMCA has deep roots in our community” said Mary Smith, Foundation Executive Director. “The Foundation is delighted to provide support for this new equipment, ensuring that the YMCA remains a vital and vibrant organization here, which makes Daviess County an even better place to live, work, and play. We appreciate our donors for making this grant possible.”
